Fishing Rod

The Fishing Rod is the tool you cast with while Fishing. You upgrade it level by level, from level 2 up to level 100, spending gold and materials at each step.

How upgrading works

Every tool shares the same gold curve, from  8 at level 2 up to  20,000 at level 100, about  676,698 in total to reach the cap. What differs is the materials. Most of its cost is Kelp reeled in while fishing, with some Wheat and Fiber, and metal bars from the copper tier onward. The metal bar required steps up one tier every 20 levels: copper, then iron, gold, and sonorite.

Lifetime totals

Reaching level 100 takes, in total: 252 metal bars, 185× Wheat, 439× Kelp, and 149× Fiber, plus about  676,698 in gold.
